Support the NFL EIR Lawsuit!
The Linda Vista~Annandale Association would like to share with you the following information:
Join the Coalition for the Preservation of the Arroyo in challenging the NFL in the Rose Bowl Environmental Impact Report (EIR).
We believe that our neighborhoods and our quality of life will be adversely affected by recent City decisions and actions to facilitate use and occupancy of the Rose Bowl for five continuous years by the NFL, including amendment of the Arroyo Seco Public Lands Ordinance to more than double the number of major events in the Rose Bowl (up to 25 per year) specifically for the NFL.
While in the Fall of 2011, the LVAA Board of Directors voted unanimously to oppose any occupancy of the Rose Bowl Stadium by the NFL, our principal concern with the NFL EIR is that the EIR, as required by applicable law, fails to identify -- and the City failed to adopt -- performance-based, enforceable mitigations for a specific NFL Rose Bowl lease proposal and, thus, fails to adequately protect our neighborhood, as well as all other impacted neighborhoods and the Central Arroyo.
In January 2013, the Coalition for the Preservation of the Arroyo, joined by LVAA and its partners, San Rafael Neighborhoods Association (SRNA) and East Arroyo Neighborhood Preservation Committee (EANPC), filed a lawsuit against the City of Pasadena to challenge this issue on environmental grounds. Information about the lawsuit, and a copy of the filed petition with the Los Angeles Superior Court, can be found on our website at http://www.lvaa.net/nfl-in-the-rose-bowl.html.
We need your help you build a war chest to help fight NFL neighborhood and Arroyo impacts!
There are two ways in which you can support our efforts:
Contribution Option 1:
Contribute directly to the Petitioners' attorney or through LVAA or SRNA. Your contribution under this option is NOT tax deductible as a charitable contribution. But, if the lawsuit is successful, and if the City of Pasadena is required to pay the Petitioners' lawyer directly for all or a portion of attorney fees and costs, all or a portion of your contribution eventually will be returned to you.
To download the form with instructions on where to mail your check, visit http://www.lvaa.net/nfl-in-the-rose-bowl.html. Donations can also be made online at http://www.srnapasadena.org.
Contribution Option 2:
Contribute directly to the West Pasadena Residents' Association (WPRA), which supports the Coalition and lawsuit. Your contribution under this option IS tax deductible as a charitable contribution (to the extent permitted by applicable federal and state tax laws). However, your contribution made through this option CANNOT be returned to you.
