After long delays and much concern, two Pasadena institutions are
scheduled to re-open their doors in December.
For Kidspace Children’s Museum, the December 16 re-opening will
be in a dramatic new facility in a rustic new location – Brookside
Park near the Rose Bowl.
For Ambassador Auditorium, whose last concert season was in 1994,
the re-opening on December 17 will be under new ownership – the
Harvest Rock Church.
It has taken 3 years and approx. $13.5 million for Kidspace
construction to be completed on all but an 18,000-sq. ft. theater
and exhibition hall. The 3.4 acre site behind Rosemont Pavilion was
previously occupied by the Fannie E. Morrison Horticultural Center.
Ambassador Auditorium, purchased by Harvest Rock Church in May,
was formerly owned by Worldwide Church of God, which opened the
concert hall in 1974. For the past decade, its fate has been
uncertain. Now, according to the Pasadena Star-News, the Pasadena
Symphony and Los Angeles Master Chorale will inaugurate the
auditorium’s first concert season in ten years with performances of
Handel’s "Messiah" on December 17 and 18.
